DE TANG
BIO
De Tang is a visual artist working across painting, digital media, and technological research. With a background in Fine Art from Trinity Western University (Canada) and an ongoing MA in Painting at Camberwell College of Arts (University of the Arts London), Tang’s practice investigates the relationship between contemporary technology, accelerationist culture, and material processes.
His recent work integrates binary-encoded brush systems, 3D-printed mark-making tools, UV-reactive surfaces, and algorithmic structures, forming glitch-like visual fields that explore themes of speed, efficiency, algorithmic labour, and the technological sublime. Tang’s research draws on thinkers such as Paul Virilio, Hartmut Rosa, Lev Manovich, and Marcus Gilroy-Ware, examining how digital infrastructures shape perception and behaviour.
He has exhibited internationally, including solo and group exhibitions in Canada and the UK, and his work will be featured in the Camberwell MA Painting Show (July 2025). Alongside his artistic practice, he has experience in teaching assistance, visual communication, and digital design using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, as well as hybrid workflows combining painting and digital fabrication.
